The Chapter Check-In

📖 The Chapter Check-In: 06/08/2025

A midweek pause for books, vibes, real life chaos & little comforts

Welcome back to another Chapter Check-In — my little midweek moment to slow things down, ramble about what I’m reading, and give a very honest life update. This week has been a mix of fae temptation, head-squeezing discomfort, and comfort food planning… so let’s get into it.

📚 Current Book:

Filthy Rich Fae by Geneva Lee

Format: Audiobook & Physical
Genre & Vibe: Fantasy Romance | ✨ Fae + morally grey = ohh yes, hello
Thoughts So Far: I’m only a few chapters in, but I’m already hooked. The narration is smooth, the world-building feels rich and decadent, and the morally questionable fae lord is very much stealing my focus already. I have a feeling this one’s going to slide straight into obsession territory — and I genuinely can’t wait to see where it goes.

😴 Midweek Mood

Still very much living that Headache Party™ life this week.

I finally had an eye exam (hallelujah), and surprise surprise — my prescription has changed quite a bit. Which explains why my head’s been feeling like it’s been squeezed in a vice lately. New glasses are officially ordered and due to arrive Friday, and I cannot wait. The countdown is on.

For now, it’s eye rests, audiobooks over eyeballs, and crossing everything that relief is close.

✅ This Week’s Goals

  • 🎧 Reach Chapter 10 in Filthy Rich Fae
  • 🧠 Most importantly: do not rip my eyes out in frustration over this eye strain 🙃

Low expectations. Survival mode. We’re being gentle with ourselves this week.

🎄 What’s Happening in Real Life

I took a little break today to visit my nana 💕 — I always try to pop over during school half terms when I can. I brought along some decorated sugar cookies, which felt extra special since it’s been a couple of years since I last made any. Honestly? I forgot how much I love going full baker-mode.

We’re also gearing up for a weekend sleepover at my mum and stepdad’s with the kids, which I know is going to be chaotic in the best way.

Sunday’s main event? Meatloaf dinner!
I’m testing out Dolly Parton’s cookbook Good Lookin’ Cookin’ for a classic southern version — and braving a vegetarian Quorn meatloaf just for my mum. Wish me luck… this could either be iconic or mildly stressful.

📺 What’s Stuck In My Head

Theme dinners.

Instagram has been relentless lately, serving me a full smorgasbord of themed dinner content — and of course, my brain has latched on immediately. I’ve already started scribbling ideas during eye-rest breaks (as if I need another obsession, right?).

I’m genuinely tempted to try a few myself… and maybe even share them here? Or maybe keep it as a just-for-fun thing. I honestly don’t know yet — but tell me: would you want to see themed dinners pop up on the blog?

🍫 This Week’s Snack & Sip

Snack:
Bacon bite crisps — my ultimate weakness. I could (and have) demolished a bag in one sitting.

Drink:
Pepsi Max (but I’m being good and keeping it to just one glass a day). Hydration is key, especially when stitching and listening through an eye-strain fog.

✨ Wrap It Up

All in all, this week is about listening over reading, resting over pushing, and leaning into comfort where I can. New glasses are on the horizon, fae drama is unfolding nicely in my ears, and there’s meatloaf to look forward to — which honestly feels like a win.

Thanks for hanging out with me for this week’s check-in. 💫
