A midweek pause for books, vibes, real life chaos & little comforts
Midweek has arrived, the routine has well and truly snapped back into place, and I’m clinging to my books, snacks, and small joys like a lifeline. So it’s time for another Chapter Check-In — a little pause to chat about what I’m reading, how I’m feeling, and what’s quietly (or chaotically) unfolding behind the scenes.
📚 Current Book:

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas
Format: Audiobook (Graphic Audio)
Genre & Vibe: Romantasy | High fantasy · Found family · War & magic · Emotional damage (the good kind)
Thoughts So Far: I have devoured this book ridiculously quickly and I’m sooo close to the finish line — literally about 40 minutes left. Every commute, every free bit of time, I’ve had this playing, and now I don’t want it to end.
The only problem? The second I finish, I already know I’ll want to jump straight into the next one. ACOTAR series has me in a chokehold and I am not fighting it.
🧠 Midweek Mood
The switch back to normal routine after last week is really kicking me. Or maybe… it’s just old age creeping up on me at 34 😂. Either way, the midweek slump is strong and I’m feeling very “just get me to Friday with snacks and audiobooks”.
✅ This Week’s Goals
- 📚 Finish the last two ACOTAR books
- 🍴 Plan food for this weekend (👀 special post incoming!)
🏡 What’s Happening in Real Life
As just hinted, that weekend food planning is for something a little special — I’ll be posting about it afterwards, so definitely stay tuned 👀
On top of that, I’ve officially pressed start on Christmas planning (yep… only three months to go!). Gift lists and ideas are beginning to take shape already, and I’m fully leaning into the festive organisation energy. 🎄✨
📺 What’s Stuck In My Head
This week is basically catch-up central. Last week’s Bake Off episode is ticked off ✔️, but I still need to watch Wednesday, Taskmaster, and finish Harlots.
My TV queue is starting to look suspiciously like my book TBR pile 😅. The plan is to get properly caught up so I can watch in peace with snacks. Bliss.

☕ This Week’s Snack & Sip
Snack:
Inspired by Bake Off’s biscuit week, I had to raid the tin for some chocolate-covered oatie biscuits. Zero regrets. 🍪
Sip:
The weather has officially shifted into chilly autumnness, which means one thing — tea season is here, and yes… it’s flowing nicely. ☕
✨ Wrap It Up
All in all, it’s one of those weeks where life feels busy, slightly exhausting, but also comforting in the familiar routines. Books are hitting, snacks are snacking, and there’s something exciting bubbling away for the weekend.
Not bad for a midweek check-in.
