A rare kid-free morning, a rainy market, and a haul full of surprises!
✨ A Rare Kid-Free Saturday Morning
This never happens. Like, seriously — unicorn-level rare.
So when I had a Saturday morning kid-free? You bet I grabbed my OH, threw on some semi-presentable clothes, and ran out the door before anyone could change their mind. Our mission: finish the last of the Christmas shopping.
And the place we headed straight to?
Wellesbourne Market.
🛍️ Wellesbourne Market Chaos (ft. People & Umbrellas)
Wellesbourne Market is such a blast from the past for us. Before we were parents, when life was all lie-ins and spontaneous weekends, we used to go nearly every week. Now it’s more of a special treat, so walking around together felt like a mini throwback date.
For anyone not local — Wellesbourne Market is one of the biggest open-air markets in Warwickshire, the Midlands, with stalls selling everything from clothes and home bits to tools, plants, food, retro toys, and very random but very fun finds. It’s been running since the 1970s and honestly feels like one of those places where you can find absolute gems if you dig long enough.
Christmas Shopping: Completed It Mate
We finally grabbed the last present for the eldest (hallelujah) plus a few cute stocking fillers.
Then — because we’re children in adult bodies — we treated ourselves to:
- 2 Mystery Funko Boxes
- 1 Round-The-World Mystery Food Bag
Mystery stuff is just so our thing. The joy! The chaos! The disappointment! The surprise high of a good pull! 😂

Once we got home (and the kids came bursting in), we opened the Funko boxes together. Here’s what we got:

We actually gasped. A double chase pull?? That’s lottery-level luck right there.
OH nearly keeled over laughing because the kids had already swiped some of the smaller minis before I even got the chance to photograph them — goodbye Mega Man, 2 mini Spidermen, and a Scooby Doo. Gone. Stolen. Claimed. 😂
But I did claim this absolute gem:
A Minnie Mouse 90th Anniversary mason jar cup. She’s cute. She’s mine.
🌍 Taste-Testing the World
Next up: the Round the World Mystery Food Bag — our favourite chaotic couple’s activity. We each tried a bit of everything and whatever one of us didn’t like, the other finished. True love.

(O.H. ATE IT when I wasn’t looking!!! I’m still traumatised.)
🇬🇧 UK — Swizzels Naughty & Nice Squashies
(O.H. ate this one too. I cannot have nice things.)
🇮🇳 India — Milkybar Choo Classic
(LOVED this. Like a UK Fudge bar but with Milkybar chocolate. Heavenly.)
🇮🇳 India — Lay’s India’s Magic Masala Crisps
(SPICY. Not “haha spicy,” but “wow OK hello flavour bomb spicy.” I liked them.
OH took one bite and instantly opted out.)
🇰🇷 South Korea — Samyang Buldak Hot Chicken Ramen (Cheese)
(I wanted to like it… I really did. But that overly fake powdered cheese smell? I couldn’t. Even I found it too spicy, and that’s rare.)
🇻🇳 Vietnam — Fanta Xá Xị (Sarsaparilla)
(Basically root beer disguised as Fanta… not for me. OH happily drank it).
⚡ Bonus Find
And THEN — at the same stall — I spotted the Monster Energy Juice ‘Viking Berry’ flavour.
I don’t drink Monster much, but honestly? Needed the boost. And this one is delicious AND the can design is stunning. Instant add-to-basket.
📚 Friday Bonus Haul
We actually did the main Christmas shopping on Friday — the long, tiring, wallet-crying version — and I treated myself to:
- A new book series
- A Starbucks hot chocolate (because self-care, obviously)
Sometimes you just have to end the day with a little “me” moment.
