Overall Thoughts

This was a good, solid, enjoyable read, especially for the chaos that is December when my brain is running on caffeine, mince pies, and pure vibes. It’s fast-paced, easy to follow, and the kind of book you can hop in and out of without losing your place, the plot, or who’s who.

Instant Everything

The romance is very instant — mate bond trope, so of course — but everything happens at a sprint. If you want slow burn, this ain’t it. But if you want werewolf + cowboy + fated mates, it delivers exactly that.

Spice Check

The spice was spicing nicely. Four chillies well deserved. Boyd is… yeah. Boyd is Boyd. (Send help.)

Tropes That Hit My Weak Spots

Werewolves? Cowboys? Mating bond?
Combine all three and I’m already feral — thanks.

Emotional Surprise

Around the 75–80% mark, the emotional shift genuinely caught me off guard. Boyd confronting his childhood trauma? Tears. Actual tears. Did I expect to be crying over a wolf-shifter bull rider on a Thursday night? No. And yet here we are.

Third Act Troubles

There’s a typical third-act breakup and a neatly-wrapped HEA that follows. Familiar, comforting, predictable — but sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

Can I swap my O.H. for Boyd?! Asking for a friend (the friend is me).

Kylie Stewart did a genuinely great job bringing Audrey to life. Her tone matched the character perfectly and made the audiobook easy to fall into.

However… I really wish this had been a dual POV audiobook. Boyd’s chapters would have shone even more with a dedicated male narrator. It’s fine as-is, but a dual narration would’ve elevated the emotional beats.
