Day 22 – Hot Chocolate Bar Takeover ☕🎁

Elves on cocoa duty! ☕✨

🧝‍♀️ What They Did

Elvis and Toffee transformed the kitchen into a festive hot chocolate station, stepping into their roles as tiny Christmas baristas for the day. With mugs lined up and toppings everywhere, they made sure the morning felt extra special — not just for the boys, but for a very important little guest too.

A small handwritten note explained that today’s hot chocolates were for all the kids, because the elves wanted everyone to feel included. Extra marshmallows, extra sprinkles, colouring sheets ready to go, and a whole lot of Christmas kindness — the sweetest way to kick off the day. 🤍✨

🎬 Behind the Scenes

This one was so much fun to set up — and super easy! I gathered a few bowls and poured in all the fun toppings (mini marshmallows, crushed candy canes, chocolate chips, sprinkles, whipped cream… basically a sugar dream). Once everything was arranged on the counter, I popped Elvis & Toffee beside the mugs like proud little baristas waiting to serve.

When I first planned this, it was meant to be just for my boys… then last week my sister messaged asking if I could do some babysitting for my niece. Of course the elves had to include her too! I asked the O.H. to grab her a cup while I was at work — something girly and Christmassy — but he did not use his brain and bought one that was basically a bucket. She’s only four! 😂
So I ended up doing a quick panic run to find a smaller one… ASDA to the rescue.

I also found the cutest customisable colouring sheets on Pinterest where you can add names, which made it even more perfect — something for the kids to do while I was busy stress-decorating Christmas cookies. I did briefly hope I might find a girl elf last minute to visit, but no such luck… so I added a little note saying the elves had included her today.

Her little face absolutely lit up. Proper auntie win moment. 💛✨

💡 Recreate It at Home

Grab your favourite hot chocolate mix (the creamier, the better!) and line up toppings like:

  • Mini marshmallows
  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate flakes or sprinkles
  • Candy canes (perfect for stirring!)
  • Crushed biscuits or cookies
  • Flavoured syrups like caramel or mint

Set everything out buffet-style so the kids can top their drinks themselves — just make sure you’ve got napkins ready for spills!

For the colouring sheets:

🪄 Elf Hack of the Day

🎄 When you’re short on inspiration, create an “Elf Emergency Drawer” — stash a few easy props like cookie cutters, paper printables, and mini accessories. It’s a total lifesaver on nights when your brain says nope.
