When book money meets an impromptu shopping trip… chaos (the good kind) ensues.
There’s something dangerous about having Christmas and birthday money sitting in your purse at the same time. Add in an impromptu shopping trip with my mum, a nearby city I know like the back of my hand, and the knowledge of exactlywhere I wanted to go… and honestly? It was inevitable.
Waterstones was always going to be the first stop.
The Works was always going to follow.
And a few “while we’re out…” detours may have happened too. Oops. 😌
So today I’m sharing my latest physical book haul — a mix of hard-to-find gems, series-completing victories, and one book I’ve been side-eyeing in the wild for weeks.

📖 What I Picked Up
⚔️ God of War – Rina Kent

This one felt like fate. I already own God of Legacy, and this series is so hard to find in shops. I have a rule now: if I see a Rina Kent Legacy book in the wild, I buy it. No hesitation. No guilt. Absolute win.
💔 Once Upon a Broken Heart – Stephanie Garber
I already own one book from this series (don’t ask me which — chaos reader behaviour 😅), but I knew I needed to go back and start properly. So book one came home with me, as it should.

💍 Bridesmaid by Chance – Meghan Quinn

At this point I’m convinced this haul was subconsciously about finishing series. This is another one I needed to complete a set, and Meghan Quinn is always a guaranteed good time. Into the basket it went.
✨ Lovelight Series – B.K. Borison (All 4 Books!)

This was the moment. The entire Lovelight series in one go… found in The Works. Honestly? A dream. A triumph. A serotonin boost I didn’t know I needed. Immediate yes.
🧪 Alchemised – SenLinYu
I have been eyeing this one in Asda for weeks. Every time I saw it, I’d think next time. On the way home, I finally listened to myself and picked it up — because sometimes restraint is overrated.

🛍️ The Non-Book Treats (Because Balance)
Because no book haul is ever just books:
- ✨ Two new bookmarks (because matching bookmarks to vibes is important)
- 🛁 Bath bombs from Lush (future me says thank you)
- 🛍️ A few new bits from Primark
- 🤪 A Derpy Funko Pop, which my youngest was very happy about

Truly a well-rounded shopping trip.
💭 Final Thoughts
This haul felt very me:
Finishing series, collecting favourites, treating myself without overthinking it, and leaning fully into that “book money is meant to be spent on books” mindset.
There’s something extra special about physical books too — the weight, the covers, the little thrill of finding something unexpected in a shop rather than clicking add to cart.

Have you read any of these?
Are you also a series-completion gremlin?
And what’s the last book you bought purely because you saw it in the wild?
