📖 Book Synopsis

JORDAN
He took me in when I had nowhere else to go.

He doesn’t use me, hurt me, or forget about me. He doesn’t treat me like I’m nothing, take me for granted, or make me feel unsafe.

He remembers me, laughs with me, and looks at me. He listens to me, protects me, and sees me. I can feel his eyes on me over the breakfast table, and my heart pumps so hard when I hear him pull in the driveway after work.

I have to stop this. It can’t happen.

My sister once told me there are no good men, and if you find one, he’s probably unavailable.

Only Pike Lawson isn’t the unavailable one.

I am.

PIKE
I took her in, because I thought I was helping.

She’d cook a few meals and clean up a little. It was an easy arrangement.

As the days go by, though, it’s becoming anything but easy. I have to stop my mind from drifting to her and stop holding my breath every time I bump into her in the house. I can’t touch her, and I shouldn’t want to.

The more I find my path crossing hers, though, the more she’s becoming a part of me.

But we’re not free to give into this. She’s nineteen, and I’m thirty-eight.

And her boyfriend’s father.

Unfortunately, they both just moved into my house.

🔥 Story Summary (Spoiler-Free)

Birthday Girl is a slow-burn, emotionally charged romance that thrives on tension, restraint, and longing. What begins as proximity and awkward awareness slowly turns into something deeper—something dangerous.

This isn’t a book that rushes. It aches. It simmers. It lets moments linger just long enough to make your chest tight. The forbidden element isn’t just for shock value—it’s woven into the emotional core of the story, making every interaction feel loaded and electric.

💬 My Review

💘 The Vibes Going In

Ohhh… just what I needed to kick-start the new year.
Age gap? ✔️
Forbidden? ✔️
Ex’s dad? ✔️✔️✔️

I went in already intrigued, but I devoured this book far faster than expected.

🔥 The Romance

Daddy Pike… umm yes please.
But truly — Pike Lawson is everything. He’s steady, restrained, protective, and painfully self-aware. Watching him fight his feelings while still being impossibly gentle and respectful? Elite romance pain.

The slow burn was slow in the best way. Every almost-touch, every glance, every internal battle had me kicking my feet and internally screaming. The forbidden nature of it all made the tension unbearably good.

💔 The Emotional Depth

What surprised me most was how much heart this book has.

This isn’t just about attraction — it’s about loneliness, responsibility, fear, and wanting something you think you’re not allowed to have. I felt every ache, every crack in the armor, every emotional stumble right alongside Jordan and Pike.

The hype?
Completely deserved.

🎧 Narrators (Audiobook Section)

Narrators: Andrew Eiden & Jennifer Mack

Perfect. Casting.

Andrew Eiden as Pike?
I was done for. Completely melted. His voice added so much depth, restraint, and quiet intensity to Pike that I honestly could’ve listened to him non-stop.

Jennifer Mack brought Jordan’s vulnerability and growth to life beautifully, balancing youth with emotional maturity.
